What Is a Clutch Slave Cylinder?
A clutch slave cylinder (also known as clutch actuator cylinder or clutch release cylinder) is a key hydraulic component in a manual transmission clutch system. It works together with the clutch master cylinder, hydraulic fluid lines, and the clutch release fork or release bearing.
When the driver presses the clutch pedal, hydraulic pressure is transmitted from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder. The internal piston converts this hydraulic pressure into mechanical force, pushing the clutch release fork to disengage the clutch disc from the engine flywheel, allowing smooth gear shifting.
In VW Kombi and Transporter T2 systems, common failure symptoms include a soft or sinking clutch pedal, hydraulic fluid leakage near the gearbox housing, and difficulty engaging gears. These issues usually indicate wear or seal failure inside the slave cylinder.
The XUI3553A is engineered according to OE specification TRW RCCM22946, maintaining correct bore diameter (22.22mm), mounting geometry, and hydraulic stroke performance for direct replacement without modification.
These systems support distributors by reducing batch variation risk, improving re-order consistency, and ensuring compatibility confidence in long-term inventory planning.
OEM / ODM Private Label Service
XUI3553A supports full OEM and ODM customization, including packaging design, logo printing, and label integration. Seal materials can be adjusted according to climate requirements in different target markets.
Workflow:
Sample confirmation → Specification approval → Mass production → Private label packaging → Shipment
Market Application
This product is widely used in:
Classic VW restoration markets in Europe
Kombi-based transport conversion projects in South America
Vintage VW maintenance and repair networks in North America and Australia
Due to discontinuation of original OE production, hydraulic clutch components for VW T2 models are now primarily supplied through aftermarket manufacturing channels.
